For round 1, we delivered a pneumatically-driven ventilator, optimized for a COVID-19 health care context and can be assembled in under 4 hours. The concept leverages the ubiquitous IV pole to enable speedy manufacturability, adjustable placement in use, easy transport, and simple storage.
Designed for safe and accurate delivery
Ventilation, while lifesaving, introduces additional dangers of lung injury from volume or pressure trauma – especially true for long term use of bag valves (also known as ambu bag) as a ventilation device which present the potential for air valve collapse. A pneumatic valve ventilation system offers the safest delivery of lifesaving ventilation.
Optimized for installation, transport, and organized storage
A simple attachment mechanism for variably sized poles allow for easy adjustment of height for user comfort. The ventilator detaches from the poles for space-saving storage and organization. A tube support arm improves the angle of intubation and reduces the chance of an accidental disconnection. The cable management back cover provides a clean storage solution for the cable while also hiding the pole clamps.
