SEE ALLGiveInternet.org is a multistakeholder project. We work with the local ISP’s to provide an Internet connection for high schoolers. We equip them with devices preinstalled with educational applications and regularly train and support them via chat & video calls on how to use technology for education. They gain access to a range of online courses of our partners like Khan Academy, Code.org and paid local suppliers. The platform is simple to use and transparent: it takes up to 5 minutes to register as a monthly donor. Donors choose what percentage of their donation goes straight to the student and they receive monthly transparency reports with a detailed account of our costs. Each beneficiary is well documented on the website and their stories are continuously published on social media and our website.

Problem
More than four billion people around the world do not have Internet access. Today we live in a knowledge economy where Internet use has become a key factor in determining whether people succeed. The economic and social development of nations depends on how well they acquire, transmit and apply the available information. But the existing disparities in Internet penetration create an atmosphere of unequal competition.

Solution
GiveInternet.org is a nonprofit platform where anyone can sponsor monthly Internet bills, devices and online mentorship for disadvantaged high schools students living in rural areas, refugee settlements and poor households. Donors register their monthly donation once, receive transparency reports, and view every student on the website. Students receive Chromebooks, Internet, free access to online courses, digital training and constant online mentorship.
Target Beneficiaries
High school students (grades 10-12) living in rural areas, refugee settlements and poor households who have been deemed socially vulnerable by the state. So far we've added over 600 students into our program.
Mission and Vision
GiveInternet is a nonprofit funding platform on a mission to help disadvantaged high school students realize their full potential by giving them Internet access, laptops, digital training and educational resources. We believe that today it is virtually impossible to succeed without Internet access. By providing connectivity, we empower people to improve the quality of their lives and their communities and drive socioeconomic growth.
Competitive Advantage
GiveInternet.org is the only crowdfunding platform for providing connectivity to those in developing countries. The platform is simple and transparent. Through automatic monthly donations, we allow our users to donate larger sums of money incrementally. Our project and the cause of connectivity seems to resonate with Millennials. They seem to understand that Internet access requires monthly recurring donations and are reluctant to withdraw support and deprive the student of connectivity. And because such large portions of our income depend on small recurring donations, the likelihood of incurring financial difficulties is relatively low.
Planned Goals and Milestones
We are pending a 501(c)3 status in the United States and we plan to start attracting US donations and expand to countries besides Georgia by partnering with nonprofits on the ground.
The Team Behind the Innovation
GiveInternet.org was founded in 2017 by Educare Georgia - an education nonprofit on a mission to provide free access to world-class education to anyone in Georgia through technology. By partnering with platforms like Khan Academy (listen to Sal Khan, its founder, on Educare Georgia: http://bit.ly/2S0Debx) and Code.org, Educare has created and popularized Georgian versions of these platforms, dubbed more than 3000 videos, and translated more than 7 million words of articles and exercises.
