Face shields are personal protective equipment devices that are used by many workers (e.g., medical, dental, veterinary) for protection of the facial area and associated mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth) from splashes, sprays, and spatter of body fluids. Quality faceshields can be manufactured using equipment found in micro-manufacturing facilities such as Fab Labs and other makerspaces that have 3D printing capabilities. In the event of a breakdown in global supply chains, such as is the case with the Covid-19 pandemic, this critical safety equipment can be manufactured locally and provided to priority users, especially medical staff.
