Afghanistan is widely impacted by the COVID19 pandemic, and women and girls are particularly affected. Community-level action is essential to meet the needs of women and girls. UN Women Afghanistan is offering grants up to $2,000 for community-led initiatives that support women and girls across Afghanistan.
In this context, UN Women Afghanistan is opening a community driven call for ideas to provide support to women and girls across Afghanistan, with a special focus on the rural and possibly hard to reach areas of the country. Civil society organizations, and women’s rights activists, are encouraged to submit their ideas on how to support women and girls dung the COVID19 pandemic. The selection process involves an online call for ideas where applications will have to briefly describe their proposal. The winners of the best ideas will be further contacted to draft a more detailed proposal including concrete actions for putting their idea into practice. All activities will have to be conducted within the timeframe 1st to 31st July 2020.

Who is this call relevant for?
Women’s rights activists, women’s rights organizations, individuals with a track record of working on women’s rights in Afghanistan, civil society organizations based and active in Afghanistan. Innovative approaches in implementing the communication campaigns/projects are highly encouraged. Action-oriented projects and concrete results must be demonstrated. M&E strategies and risk identification and mitigations for the online approaches has to be clearly explained. Partnerships with various stakeholders are highly encouraged. Only initiatives targeting Afghanistan and conducted by Afghan citizens, organizations active in Afghanistan will be selected.
